PIERRE FAVRE 皮埃尔·法瓦瑞士爵士五重奏（ECM MASTER、EROPOEAN MORDERN JAZZ GIANT / SWISS JAZZ QUINTET）：

一位横垮爵士与前卫音乐、民族音乐、古典音乐的巨人，瑞士国宝级音乐家,帮助确立当代欧洲爵士乐新方向的重要人物之一。他一共出版过65张专辑之多，在著名的ECM公司出版过10张专辑，是ECM公司标志性的人物之一。皮埃尔·法瓦既是一位伟大的鼓手和打击乐手，又是一位打击乐器的发明家，同时也是杰出的作曲家和乐团领导者。他不单是爵士乐的集大成者，也善于在前卫音乐领域开拓爵士乐与其他音乐对话的无穷可能性。此次来华的五重奏中将有一位瑞士华裔琵琶乐手杨静，他俩去年曾出版一张专辑。一场扣人心弦的东西方音乐对话即将展开，在北京的演出，皮埃尔·法瓦和他的乐队还将与中国众多顶尖乐手展开一系列即兴合作。
在一部爵士的百科全书里，Joachim Ernst Berendt曾引用小号大师Dizzy Gillespies的话.在40年代初期，面对突然发生爵士上的新变化，Dizzy Gillespies回答指出："爵士很有可能就是这样从一个男人击鼓开始！"这个预言在今天又通过Pierre Favre得到印证。
Pierre Favre出生在瑞士的Locle。通过自学，他15岁开始玩打击乐器（la batterie），17岁时已经成为职业的鼓手。他和爵士音乐的第一次接触源于Be-Bop。随后他开始做一些风格比较古典的爵士音乐，如新奥尔良迪克西兰。60年代结束前，为了拓展现代音乐的可能性，Pierre Favre开始重新自己制造、改良加工属于他自己的打击乐器。 Pierre Favre被誉为“鼓的诗人”（poet of the Drums），他的现场表演被誉为“运动之诗”（Poetry in Motion）。
他在全世界做过无数巡回独奏音乐会，他喜欢和世界各地的著名音乐家一起演出合作，除了和很多欧美大师级乐手，如Charlie Haden、Jan Garbarek、Evan Paker、Derek Bailey、Han Bennink、Kenny Wheeler等等，也与来自印度、中国、韩国和巴西等国乐手合作。Favre保留了欧洲音乐的很多民间传统和爵士乐的精华又对这些音乐作出现代融合和发展。Pierre Favre作为一位卓越的作曲家，也为管弦乐、交响乐、戏剧和舞蹈作曲。他是一个巨大的节奏狂欢中心。
团结湖爵士六重奏；
由著名吉他手、贝斯手龙隆（前鲍家衔43号、现窦唯与不一定成员）领导的融合爵士（Fusion Jazz）乐队。除龙隆担纲吉他，乐队拥有三名现居北京的外国优秀乐手，鼓手是菲律宾的鲍蒂斯塔（Dominic Bautista）是国际级鼓手，在亚洲乐坛享有美誉，为Sabian鼓钗全球形象代言人。贝斯手是瑞典的托比（Tobias Demker），他是国内唯一能写中文歌词的外国乐手，他2000年便在台湾组乐队，2003年在北京组建了摇滚乐队“Soul Carry”。打击乐手是日本的荒井壮一郎，曾加入腾格尔与苍狼乐队。乐队还配置了秦四风和黄毅两位键盘手。“团结湖”是拥有众多成熟原创作品的为数极少的国内爵士乐队之一。
No other European Country has produced as many good drummers as Switzerland. Indeed, Switzerland was definitely the first European Country whose drummers could be named in the same breathe with the great American drum stars. Pierre Favre descended from this tradition. He is considered to be one of the world’s best percussionists, a passionate lyric poet who creates sound-colour-poems, a musician of highest sensibility and feeling.
Pierre Favre was born in Le Locle, Switzerland. He started playing drums as an autodidact at the age of fifteen and turned professional two years later. He played swing music for many years in the big bands. He played Dixieland, swing and be-bop before he discovered the new jazz. Out of this background he developed into a musician of the highest sensitivity and diversification, a master of empty spaces and pauses. Seldom has anyone in jazz played drums so quietly. Favre is a poet of the drums.
Pierre Favre is one of the musicians who helped put European jazz on a new track, emancipating the percussion from its conventional rhythm role and allowing it to become an all-round vehicle of rhythm and melody. His set of instruments forms a unique and independent sound-world from which he lures orchestral dimensions in his solo performances.
He studied composition, has worked with choreographers and has written music for plays and films.
As a solo percussionist, he toured all round the world. He has worked with African, Indian, Brazilian, Chinese and Korean percussionists. Still Favre feels very much related the European music tradition.
He’s been described in the European press as a poet, painter, and sculptor. His work has been called lyrical, passionate, and mysterious. Pretty remarkable, considering Pierre Favre is a drummer. But Pierre’s not just any drummer. He’s one of the most respected percussionists working in Europe today.
Pierre’s vision is one of percussion as a melodic voice, rather than just rhythmic variations.
